Yo! This is GemChan; real name (you guessed it) Gemma. I'm currently nineteen years old and am at university studying Literature and History, which means 50% of my time is spent staring at a computer screen and the other 50% is spent reading. Needless to say I'm short-sighted. I'm located in the South East part of England (Norfolk to be more exact) and live in a small flat with my partner in crime Faye-san ^^.

At zee moment my appearance tallies up to be around 5'7", slim build and a mop of er... copper coloured hair, in a not too different style to the one on the lovely Takeru above. The hair colour changes on a regular basis. I had it purple for years but now it's more natural... :S Don't know what prompted me to do that other than to save myself money on dye.

Short term ambitions in my life would be to actually manage attending all my lectures and seminars in at least one week this term... :S (oops) and to graduate university with a First. After that I plan to spend two years in Japan with the lovely aforementioned Faye-san, the first of which I hope to be teaching English in a high school over there and the second working odd jobs and moving from top to bottom (or bottom to top) of the country, seeing all the sites as I go. I'm also hugely looking forward to the EACON convention we hope to be running in 2013.

Longer term plans involve also maybe teaching in the states, if big pipe dream of working in film production and direction falls through. Either way I aim to be writing novels while doing either job as this has always been my true love and desire for an occupation.

I don't have much else to say other than to give you a few facts about me here:

Fav Anime: Code Geass, Junjou Romantica, Dragonball Z (not one word), Sailor Moon (ditto), Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.
Fav J-Drama: Devil Beside You, Bull Fighting.
Non-Japan Interests: Reading, Writing, Drawing, Painting, Volleyball, Swimming, Eating (yum) and Sleeping (I <3 my bed!)

In terms of what I'm probably going to be posting on here I'd say that it'll most likely be a lot of guff and shinanigans about my life, plus I might put up some of my stories and writing if anyone is interested (my stories aren't anime related so I won't be putting them in the FanFiction board). Er... yeah and anything else that comes to mind I guess... :S lol. You'll probably even get some behind the scenes stuff of me doing admin stuffs - like complaining because the code won't work or that I've buggered up the site in some way... :S lol. Feel free to post on here with whatever you like and I'll reply back with equal randomness ^^.

UPDATE:

Phew, busy day today apart from the fact that I never left my bed... :S Oopsie. Here's the run down if anyone wants it -

Put site into maintenance mode last night because, after a late night in Friday I forgot to do it before going off to work *is a serious numpty* So I had to wake up early this morning (set my alarm and everything like a good little admin ^^) and got it done ASAP. The site was done and dusted by 10:30 but I then spent until about 2 fixing bugs and problems *cries!* it worked perfectly fine on my test forum!! damnit all to hell! Lol. But I don't mind - you guys are worth it ^^ Like L'Oreal lol.

Aaaaanyway, I then (in an act of devout procrastination, which is the faith I abjure to the most) decided that now of all times would be a good chance to start watching Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. Which I totally knew I would become addicted to but I did it anyway because I'm an idiot who likes to pretend that she's not taking a Literature course and needs to do a lot of reading.

I read a little of Mrs Dalloway which is something I should really have read by the end of tomorrow but I think that's very unlikely - I'm gonna have a go at reading it by the end of Tuesday ^^ Much more likely but still difficult (Ganbatte! ^^").

Volleyballed at Development League on Friday and I reckon mine and faye's team is getting better and better ^^ Still haven't won a decent match yet but we're most definitely not the push overs we were three weeks ago ^^. People have to actually work to beat us now lol.

Urgh and there's a BIG thing going on over on facebook at the moment with some old "friends" of mine from highschool. I reckon you guys'll love it when I can get around to reiterating it. Towards the end they started taking cheap shots at the anime world (I know right?!) but anyway, I'll save that story for another time (heehee I've left you hanging) as I'm ridiculously tired and I suspect you're all bored of my typoes by now (I bet there are loads due to the aforementioned tiredness... *yawn*).

Lol yosh I must must must watch Death Note. It is high priority after CG R2. And all the uni work I have to do... Eeeeek. lol. I've seen the opening before and it does look totally cool ^^.

Still haven't gotten around to doing pretty pictures for these updates... :-( *sigh*.

Not much going on at the moment besides the fact that I am (For some reason) feeling totally great!!! Have been in a bit of a funk/depression for the last few weeks and not really feeling particularly alive... Eeek I hate it when I do that. It's kinda a regular thing for me that I'll slip into a funk for a few weeks and then come out fighting and then about a month later I'll slip again. need to get the hang of not doing that. But yeah, anyway...

I is feeling superb today and have been doing lots of cleaning and washing around the flat and making it all lovely and spick and span. I even woke up early this morning to get some uni work done and made some stew ^^ Yay stew *does a little dance*.

Tonight is the penultimate week of the Volleyball Development League that me and Faye-san go to... *sniffle* don't want it to end. We still haven't had a decent win yet. (We are the Red Rockets - that's our team name. Don't look at me, I didn't make it up lol). We won once against some young kids who, admittedly are very very good, but it was the first match and they hadn't really warmed up yet and it wasn't really proper volleyball because the rallies really weren't going well. So I don't really count that as a spectacular win. Would totally love to get one this week though ^^. Should have some different opponents as we're in the bottom league and won't have moved anywhere but someone should have been relegated down and someone else up, so we'll hopefully get our own back on one of the teams we played last week or beat the relegates ^^. *fingers crossed*.

Er..... About to go into uni now for a seminar and shall probably be working for quite a while this afternoon trying to catch up on all the work I didn't do while in my aforementioned funk. So yeah, See yas all latorz!!! ^^.

UPDATE:

We won!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yes last night was most definitely our night!!!! Out of the three games we played, we won one spectacularly, lost one by a very small margin and then lost to one of the other UEA teams but they had a large number of intermediates on their team whereas we have a heck of a lot of beginners. Plus we only lost by about 20 points - that's not even a set in a real game...

So yeah! Last night was probably the best fun I've had at Volleyball, like, EVER, as, even though we lost most of our matches we were playing seriously good volleyball - it was totally awesome ^^.

Did not get around to doing all that uni work that I had to do yesterday though so now I have a very busy weekend ahead of me full of reading and note making (yay).

Going out for dinner tonight after work though (sister's birthday) so that should be ace ^^. Also, volleyball Student Cup is going on this weekend. Really wanted to go this morning but I figured I should get some work down (and now I'm on here... oopsie). But if I can get a load of work done after dinner tonight/tomorrow morning and evening then I'll let myself go cheer UEA on if they've reached the second day... *fingers crossed*

Hello my lovely chummies, this is another cuckoo update from myself...

I have just this second realized that in this posts I most definitely channel my inner Anya. For those of you who don't know Anya is a character in a serious of books I would highly recommend for the Shoujo lovers amongst you. It's not anime, and it's not Japanese related but it is seriously hot and romantic stuff: The Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter. Check them out - they are ace. But anyway Anya is the Goddess of Anarchy in it and she talks a little like how I do in these posts, which is why I realized I was channeling her. Moving on now...

Dinner with my family was rather nice - went to have Tapas (which are lots of small dishes rather than one big one in case you didn't know - I didn't lol). Was rather nice and my parents gave me a couple of big chocolate bars as a gift for Valentine's Day (my family do this Father Valentine thing which apparently no-one else does - I assumed everyone did it lol). So yeah, they are now gone, along with my health eating plan (call it a diet if you will lol) which went out the window... Oopsie, two large Galaxy bars in one evening... :S eek.

Didn't do any of the uni work I was supposed to do today (I'm seeing the phrase appear a lot in my journal and it's slightly worrying lol) so I'm gonna have to work like a nutter tomorrow, but I aim to be going into uni early and working from 9-3 so that should give me plenty of time to get loads of work done.

Instead of doing the uni work I was supposed to be doing I have been on facebook being a spammer and annoyer and getting people to join JapAnime. They're all lovely people from what I can work out so lets all play nice with them - Hello Newbies!!! Not that you would be wasting your precious time reading my journal... :S I'm sure you have better things to do with your lives lol.

Still waiting on that EACON venue email but it should be in my Inbox asap this week... the meeting she was supposed to have with her boss was supposed to be last week so I'm guessing that means it was at the end of last week, as she hasn't emailed me yet... *sigh*. Can't wait to get that confirmation - as soon as I do everything is a go and I'm going to be contacting a loooooot of people lol.

Anime-wise I am still midway through ep.22 of Code Geass R2 and am reading Kindan no Koi wo Shiyou. Though I'm also thinking of re-reading Kare First Love for the billionth time... Or maybe Kaikan Phrase... ooooooooohhhh Kaikan Phrase.... *nom nom* Sakuya.... *cough* moving on...

I've now downloaded the whole of Devil Beside You drama so I may also have to watch that.... ooooh.... *nom nom* Mike He....

Me wonders whether if I had a boyfriend I would *nom nom* less.... :S Eh probably not lol.

Anyway I think that's all about it from me today.... :S Nope, can't think of much else....

Okay, haven't written one of these in a while - apologies.

Basically life is a bit nutty at the moment: uni work is absolutely crushing. I'm seriously starting to lose hope that I'm going to be able to manage everything that I have to do by the end of next week... *sobs*. Hence why I'm on here procrastinating as I do. On top of that going to the cinema tonight - which I really wanna do anyway (going to see No Strings Attached with Faye-san) and I'm working from 8:30 to 5:30 tomorrow... yay.

Development League is over - so sad! But it ended on a high as our coach loved the cake Faye made him and the cards we wrote for him. And we all played really really well despite not actually winning.

My writing (as in novel wise) is at a complete stand-still even though I'm feeling really overly creative.

My creative juices have therefore been poured into an anime roleplay forum I'm working on which I shall probably shamelessly plug at some point on the site. And me and faye have just been writing some fun roleplays on there already, not waiting for it to be finished or opened lol.

Anyway, should probably be doing work now but am instead having dinner and watching Charmed (Drew Fuller.... yum....)

No Strings Attached is a very good movie. I highly recommend it. Especially if any guys are wanting to take their girlfriends to a rom com as I think this is one of the few rom com's I've seen that would probably really make a guy laugh. It's very manish in how it's written.

Haven't been going to volleyball recently... :-( How depressing. I've basically fallen into period of depression where I don't like to leave the flat if I can help it which means I haven't been going to volley or to uni lectures/seminars. Yay. Of course the more I miss the more I worry because of falling behind and the more I worry the more I get depressed and then the more I stay curled up in my bed. It's a vicious circle. Sigh. I go through periods like this a lot though so hopefully I'll break out of it soon (preferable before I flunk out of uni).

I've finished the anime roleplay forum I was working on so here is my shameless plug - Like Shooting Stars. If anyone is interested it's an anime university roleplay.

Have been busy finishing that up and designing a website for an imaging business me and some friends are hoping to run and emmersing myself in manga to hide away from my crappy life atm. As such as I have read all of Fake and Tail of the Moon, and started on Ayashi no Ceres and have nearly finished Kare First Love for the billionth time. Am thinking about starting Kaikan Phrase over again as well...

So that's kinda why I haven't been on for a while - apologies!

I need to stop hiding and get on with my life whether I like it or not... :S

UPDATE:

Life seems to be getting back on track. I went to volleyball today for the IntraClub Tournament - I was a member of the Lifeguards and had to wear yellow and red. As I have nothing clothing-wise yellow I tried to make a contribution in my own way. I face painted my nose white like I was wearing suncream, wore a red top and yellow wrist sweatbands, had my sunglasses on my head and was wearing swimming arm-bands. Yes, the bright orange ones that small children wear.

Stop laughing now.

Lol, I must had looked like a right nutter - one staff member of the SportsPark told me I was going the wrong way for the swimming pool. I told him that was okay because I was going to volleyball.

Have got my final essays in at uni - phew!! Was working right up the deadline but I've done it!! Now I just have to worry about the exams... :S Eeeek! I suspect my absence in lectures and seminars are going to effect my performance in those some-what. I'm going to try and work hard over the Easter... :S

But yeah, the site is all done now - that was another form of procrastination over the last few weeks but at least you guys can all benefit from that, rather than just me failing lol. Hope you all like it.

I'm also going to try and sort out a load of cool discussion boards and topics in the next few days to draw people back in, so that will keep me busy ^^.
