Hey there... This board has been a tad quiet recently so I'm hoping to open it up a little more. Apparently coming up with good ideas is difficult (I think we can all agree to that - faye-san and I included lol) so how about we go for some bad ones.
What would you absolutely hate for us to do at or around EACON? What could make the event a disaster? What would you be really disappointed in if we forgot/missed it out? Or what have you seen other conventions do that left you thinking "WTF?" and crossing them off your annual attendance list?

Not having anything to do at the days of the con (maybe have something to do before the con or a meet up),
Seeing no one around the con, being alone in an anime screening room or no one in the screen room (Why the hell have a anime that no one is watching)? The con doing the same thing again each year,
putting shitty anime in the screen rooms (I am a person that doesn't know what is shit and what is not, People drinking to much and people having sex anywhere at the con (don't know if that one happens).
Sorry for the swearing and edit what needs to be edited.

Okay thanks for the suggestions Anna ^^ And don't worry - we don't have any censorship on the site ^^.
There will of course be rules on peoples behaviour at the con (including the staff!!) so I hope none of what you describe will be happening ^^. |

heres something that might be a good idea, dont hand out "GLOMP ME" t-shirts to your staff it stops a lot of work getting done :/ they did this last month at deka-con in the USA it was a mess, though a shirt/hat/armband to show there staff might be a good idea.

Faye-san and I were planning for sashes or t-shirts for staff (depending on whether they wanna cosplay and will need something that will go over the top of the costume), and I was thinking about putting silicone wrist bands that would be GLOMP bands in the conbags. I was thinking that we could make it a rule that attendees should only glomp those that are wearing the band. SOme people don't like physical contact after all... :S |

Yeah I think we're going to do that too Crest. The only thing is that I found with ALcon that unless you knew exactly who was staff, or recognized people's faces it wasn't really possible to find a staff member without going up to everyone and staring at their con badge - which is a little bizarre and embarrassing. So we figured a sash or t-shirt would work well. Personally I quite like the power trip that I think I would experience wearing a black t-shirt with the word "STAFF" in white across it and a headset...  Not that I would let tat go to my head or anything... :S Lol.
And My God yes, if I see anyone having sex in a public (even semi-public) place they will be told to take it somewhere else... I'm not putting up with that. I'll tell them that if they're interested in Hentai there's a panel for it and if they're interested in practical there's a dorm room for it... |

Clashing two uber popular panels. Eg hentai panel and pub quiz. Have two things going on, but say art panel and music panel, something that would be either or not oh god I miss the x panel cause I want to go to y.
Have options. As a rock hating non drinker I tend to get bored at night since invariably the only thing on is rock party. Kita did a manga/art chillout room which was great but a panel would have been better.

We're hoping to get panels going on in the evening as well don't worry IceBlade ^^. We're also thinking about doing double panels. As in - we put the the panels we think will be really popular on twice across the weekend, so that if it's clashing with something you want to see the first time you'd hopefully be able to see it the second ^^.

wow that's really good idea, I know one of the cons in Ireland kinda did that and everybody loved them for it. They just didn't get it out there as well as they could. So maybe a central area with giant notices that everybody will be passing through at least once. I know i've frequently been annoyed cause a panel has been delayed or moved and the notices are tiny, and out of the way.
