Personally I prefer Brotherhood, as I think it ties the story together better and has a much more satisfactory conclusion. I imagine this is due to the manga actually being completed when they made the series! On the other hand, it comes off a bit weaker towards the start - probably because Studio Bones were aware that many people in their audience would have watched the original series, so rushed over some of the emotional impact of many of the earlier scenes of the show. Oh well, I still love the show! Favourite characters - Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye. Also Greed, Lan Fan and Ed. Actually, this is probably one of my favourite things about the show - so many enjoyable characters! In regards to the movie? I find myself humming in a corner and pretending it didn't exist. Sometimes there is weeping involved.

I have to admit that I did prefer Brotherhood, but I'll always love the original version too ^_^ I actually liked the film, but I'll watch anything to do with FMA so that could explain it!! There's also going to be a new film out in the summer! FullMetal Alchemist: Milos no Seinaru Hoshi, though I'm not sure yet how/where/when it's set. It looks to be based on Brotherhood as opposed to the original version though. As for my favourite characters? Ed. But to be fair, I love most of the characters! Armstrong is a definite favourite as well, though that is partially influenced by the fact that he's voiced by Chris Sabat ^_^

Yeah.... I have to agree about Vic being the VA doe Ed - that's part of the reason I love Ed (and Vic!!!) so much. I started with the dub and I'll always say it's one of the best anime dubs I've seen. I did get a shock when I switched to the sub for Brotherhood (it was still airing *sob*), and discovered Ed talking with the voice of Hitsugaya from Bleach xD MUSTANG IS THE BOMB!!

I agree with you on the quality of the dub. What I find interesting is that Mustang's voice actor originally tried to get the part of Armstrong! What could have been...
Did anyone else think that Al's voice actor got better between the first series and Brotherhood? Unless they changed the voice actor altogether and I'm just as unobservant as a mole on LSD. It's possible. xD

I agree with you about volume 4 being weaker than some of the others - a bit too much talking about action rather than actual action. But don't worry, the ending is brilliant, and as you said - this is the deep breath before the plunge! The problem of too many characters becomes less of a problem and more of an advantage when all the plotlines begin to converge
