Guilds/Clans ?

Hey everyone!!!

Okay our numbers have definitely increased and this can only be a godo thing. But, we don't want to have a load of members who are bored stiff.

So.

I know that there are certain anime forums such as AL etc that like to make Clans or Groups or Guilds or what have you. So here's the Q - are people interested in this?

Or is this an idea that everyone really thinks - my God why has another forum put such a stupid thing in place?

So yeah, let us know if you think there should be some Guilds or what have you on here and we can take the idea further ^^.

I'm not familiar with the concept of Guilds on forums...

Could you explain what that would entail?

Yeah i'm not so sure how that works on forums. But for something like EACon, definately. But only if you can get a large meet and greet event going. Like the ninja rave that kinda did/didn't happen at alcon. it was meant to be ninja only, so that meant people got to meet each other from the same group and obviously with at least one thing they all had in common. it would be a great way for people to meet each other that they may know from the forums. esp if there's a way to get people chatting in their groups in the forums. and it doesn't have to be a rave. maybe base it on a uni class party. a fun themed event. like ninja charades, where the book, tv show or movie must contain a ninja even if its a minor role. (i'm just using ninja as an example cause its an obvious choice of clan) and then make . . . more obvious challenges that the clans can compete against each other for like with alcon. only you know more obvious. cause i don't think many people are quite sure of how the clans get picked. I know that it mostly involves the winners of things like the art comps and the gophers choosen clans. but like make them into actual events that people can watch and that.

Guilds/Clans are features on larger boards. They are groups created with a certain theme in mind, and allow members to join those groups and access that group's own sub-forum, where they can discuss topics that may not popular enough on their own to warrant a full forum on the index page.

Personally I think this site is far from big enough to be worrying about such things. The site hasn't got enough active members that it would be worth devoting sub-forum space to them.

If you really want to do this, I'd create 3 groups based on your Con Teams, and then give each a specific identity and theme (Art & Cosplay, Gaming, Anime, etc) which will help people choose a team to join.

I think at alcon if I had of attended the rave would have happened :C I put way too much thought into parties! Fear not at EACON :> Faye and Gem are letting me have a party \o/ hohoho!

I do like the idea of Clans but maybe not till we have more members

There's a cosplay subforum around here somewhere to get your teeth into, Emma ;-)

As for clans/guilds for the forum, I'm not entirely sure why you brought it up now, Gem o.O The site is nowhere near big enough for something like that to work yet. Even on forums with a few hundred active members, they're hard to maintain and die out quickly.

But, once we have maybe a hundred active members and are closer to EACON, having a subforum for each of the guilds would be a good idea for people in each guild to get to know each other better.

Aside from that though, I really don't see the point of clans/guilds just for the sake of them. We have enough board for people to be able to talk about whatever they want already without them being too cluttered.

Okay let me clear this up. Obviously I didn't explain myself very well. This being the first forum I'm running my idea concerning clans was that, we have nearly fifty members on here and very few active members. I was going with the idea of letting there be, say, five clan positions that people can ask to have one of and create clans that would encourage those that don't post on here much to come back on. But obviously I was going to wait until it was a little bigger yes.

Okay to the no on the forum then. I think people have agreed that we're too small for that. However, yes we're planning on the guilds for EACON (check out the EACON info board peoples). And I think it is faye and mine's intention to up the competition of the clans, so fear not IceBlade.
