Hey everyone - I wanna know what you think of this idea:
Say we have no anime screenings on the first day.
Everyone is going to be hyper so my guess is that there will be few wanting to sit down and watch something. We can put more panels on instead and do some 24hour stuff with the screening for the next few days.
My reasoning for this is -
What if for the opening night (when we don't really have a lot to do and don't want to overwhelm people) we have screens in the bar playing opening titles for all the things we'll be screening over the weekend? So if people don't know what any of them are they can have a look and go - Oh that looks cool! And mark it off to see on their timetable?
Does this sound like a helpful idea?
Or we do screenings all weekend and have this on the Thursday night. But I'm not sure how many people will be there on the Thursday, and it would be good to do this, I think, after a welcoming thing, which would be on the Friday night...
:S what do you guys think?

I think people would rather miss screenings than panels to be honest. So, putting on more panels instead of screening on the Friday, when people will still be arriving may be the reverse of what people want.
But I may be wrong. I just feel that at cons, I'd rather go to the panels than screenings.

I agree that more people would be more interested in seeing panels than screenings (after all, you can always watch what is being screened at home )... I'd say the opening ceremony or whatever we're going to call it, should definitely be on the friday (I like the idea of having the openings of anime being screened though!). We could have screenings on the thursday for those that have arrived earlier, but no panels on thursday or on friday morning for those who aren't able to arrive then. I'd suggest maybe having no special guest panels until friday afternoon at the earliest for the same reason.

I pretty much agree with Faye-san's comment on this. Unless you want to screen the early eps of Bleach on the Friday morning

I like all of these comments.
So how about - we organise the con how it would be best based around when people are likely to arrive, and we show the openings after the welcome ceremony, but we'll only show the openings of those still to come in the weekend, rather than the ones that have already gone?

That certainly makes sense.
