so recently (over the last month or so) there have been whispers of a new independent show been produced that came along with this teaser image.
now this lead everyone to believe that it was some sort of new Anime hitting the scene that would appeal to the Toku fan, understandably I kept my nose to the grind stone on this one.
However!
then this was released and it threw that silhouette shot right out the window and into something all together more weird and wonderful!
now to say the least a lot of people went up in arms, others cheered loudly but mostly there was just shock and awe of what we saw which is both good and bad, it was something new and fresh but we didn't quiet know how new and fresh until the day after the image was released.
the new Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger, being produced and made by Bandai's Tamasii Nation team (known for been a little on the teen to adult side) had this to say for themselves:
"The Unofficial Sentai Akibarangers are a trio of heroes who live in the otaku centre of Tokyo, Akibahara. When evil appears, they transform and fight to save their home. It’s unrelated to the main Super Sentai universe and targeted mainly at adult fans of tokusatsu. The tagline for the show even is “Good little kids shouldn’t stay up late to watch this!”.
There’s several tokusatsu and anime veterans working behind the scenes on this, including director Ryuta Tazaki (Kamen Rider Agito, Ryuki & Faiz), director/character designer Keiichi Satou (Karas, Tiger & Bunny), writer Naruhisa Arakawa (Kamen Rider Kuuga, Spice and Wolf, Steel Angel Kurumi), and composer Kenji Kawai (Ghost in the Shell, Death Note, Eden of the East)"
now this is a nice little production team as we can all understand, also the shows very fun tagline is going to give you a good clue of what we should be expecting, basically its power rangers for adults as you will soon see.
they have even shown the new S.H.Figuart mock ups of the heroes for the show (as shown below)
now just Thursday we got a revel on some of the key actors who will be taking part in the show for all to see!
The Akibarangers consist of Nobuo Akagi/Akiba Red(Masato Wada), Mizuki Aoyagi/Akiba Blue(Kyoko Nichinan) and Moegi Yumeria/Akiba Yellow(Karin Ogino).
Akiba Red, looks kinda like a goofball.

they also seem to use a transforming toy of an anime style character to transform into Akibaranger's!
there supporting cast consist of the beautiful Professor Hiroyo(Rei Uchida) and villain Marushina to be played by actress Honoka.

Definitely not for kids...im think i might enjoy the badguys more than the good ones
the transforming device as shown will also become the characters main weapon when fighting which in itself is rather amusing
It's also a fully posable action figure in case you was wondering!
