Alcon is more of a holiday than a con, but I have to like it cos I met you all there (though it bankrupts me every time due to its models and books).
whos going to this years? (im debateing about it)

I won't be going this year Partly out of principle that I can't imagine it changing (and as I've been three times already, that can get a bit boring lol), and partly because I'm not sure I can afford it, ahhaha.

Same here...
A convention is a lot of money to spend if you're not guaranteed a good time...

In Alcon's defence it is by far the cheapest, (if you don't live in the same place as the con is) Still I wasn't going to go, but by the miracle of LAC being actually good and a-lot of fairly anti-al people agreeing I'm going to say that if the next LAC goes off as good as the last or better, ill give this years ALcon another chance.

whos going to this years? (im debateing about it) I might go see how much Kitacon eats. Then I'll see if I got the money to go to Alcon. As I think Alcon is a good base to start going to other cons (kitacon?). (just hope I have fun at both cons if that is drinking, going to panel and so on). At Alcon I am mostly by myslef so I just go all around the con.

Drinking is definitely a big thing at ALcon if you're into that.
And I agree with you Jupitris, ALcon is fairly cheap which is handy. Still a reasonable amount of money though.
Faye-san and I are now working out the finances of EACON and realizing how cheap ALcon have managed to make themselves. But I still don't think that you get enough for your money there.

Definitely don't get enough, but after kitacon's £50 entry fee, Alcon stands somewhat better, I Mean. They had about the same level of decent events. Argh i'm confused now! Ah well I blame Alcon's other poor aspects for leaving a sour taste behind it. When I get back to my flat I'm comparing all my con-books.

Lol let us know the result of that Jupitris ^^. Faye-san and I are working out how much EACON is going to cost in terms of entry fee and accommodation - would be good to know where we'd stand with the sketched prices we have.
Also, I agree that ALcon's management and other negative aspects are more problematic than value for money.
