[POLL] Dates for EACON

Hey everyone!

Okay for those of you that don't know, EACON was originally being planned for the first weekend in August (option 5 above). However, Wandercrest has been very helpful (or perhaps problematic? ;-P lol) in pointing out to us that Ame and Aya cons are also during this month.

Now, originally we had tried to choose the first weekend in August so that it doesn't clash with any end of terms or exams, but as we're in a bit of a situation of treading on Ame and Aya's toes (which we really don't want to do) I thought I'd turn it over to a vote and Wandercrest suggested the same thing.

Ergo- here is your vote.

You can retract your vote later on, or change your mind closer to the time, so don't worry about voting- it's not a permanent thing until we've booked the university.

Also, the poll settings have been set so that you can vote every single weekend if you want. If you have no plans and no worries about any weekends then this would be a good way to go so that we do at least know that you have voted and we'll know that you don't mind. If you, however, know that there is a birthday at that time or feel like you don't want it to be too close to an annual event you already know of then please feel free to vote the weekends that won't clash with anything.

Also, if you feel like you know of an event that you don't want this to clash with that other people should know about then feel free to post below, on here, why you have voted the way you have so that others can take that into consideration too ^^.

edit: I've voted all of the weekends because I need to put in a vote and I don't mind when the event is. Now at least people know that I have voted.... Besides this is everyone's convention and I just need to do it when people want really not fuss about it myself lol.

Hmm....I vote the first week although to be fair I think any would be pretty good as long as like you said it doesn't coflict with other cons....:3

I have just realised that if it's the second weekend in July it'll be Friday the 13th ^^ lol.

Well, I finally got around to voting, as I realised that one of those weekends (July 15/15th or 21/22nd) will probably be the same dates as LFCC

I also remembered, in case anyone is a sports enthusiast that the Olympics start on the 27th of July. This may obviously make transport a little tricky too.

I'm definitely thinking that that first weekend in July is looking the most likely... But we definitely need more votes on here.

Seems it's all fairly evened out with regards to preferences. Maybe the next 50 members will make a difference?

the problem with those other cons is that there still growing too and they have set there dates in order to avoid exams too (i know the woman who helped set up the hall for Ame is in her 2nd year of uni) but if you go before someones gonna miss out and any later then they have spent all there money on the before mentioned cons

That's why faye-san and I are hoping to keep EACON fairly small with a kind of exclusiveness to it. The others are quite big and this would give us something to define us...

good its easyer to manage like that, rather than getting swept up in the 'spotlight' like someone we all know trying to become a larger better con and faltering badly because they dont know how to run a con to begin with.

That's kinda what sparked the idea for exclusivity really. I couldn't help feeling that this year Alcon grew way too much and Mike overstretched himself. That's why we wanna get a small but really great con going, and probably won't increase it too much. We'd rather have too many events for smaller no. of people, rather than loads of people and too few events to keep them happy.
