The fact that the site is also called JapAnime UK may also put people outside of the UK off from joining up

See, I'd suggest something like HigashiCon (that's Japanese for east, right? Higashi no Eden, Eden of the East?) but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue XD I quite like EACON though, and I always pronounced it as eee-con from the beginning so I'm glad my pronunciation was right..!!

The fact that the site is also called JapAnime UK may also put people outside of the UK off from joining up Oops, now I feel really stupid xD I keep forgetting that we have UK on the end of the name, as we had to add it on at the end so as to try and avoid being too similar to another place. But I still stick to my points about keeping them separate. See, I'd suggest something like HigashiCon (that's Japanese for east, right? Higashi no Eden, Eden of the East?) but it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue XD I quite like HigaCon ^_^ But you're right, it doesn't roll off the tongue very well xD I'll look into it

Okay okay okay,
We don't seem to be coming to agreement here so (after a discussion between the two of us) as runners of the convention I'm going to thank IceBlade for starting this thread and for all the suggestions but the name of the convention is not up for discussion anymore. We're thankful for suggestions and we honestly do see your points, however, as we have been asking guests to attend "EACON" and the majority of people we have spoken to like the name, and the fact that we ourselves did go through a lot of examples before choosing EACON, I think it best that we just keep what we have.
So thanks for the suggestions but I think it's time to say EACON is EACON.
Also - in terms of the guilds. Yes I see your point about Sorcerer being a male pronoun IceBlade, and the male mascot for the group would be a Sorcerer and the female a Sorceress. However, as we don't say Sorceresses, the guild will be Sorcerers, as I believe that's the only plural there is.
When it comes to the idea of Mecha - I explained my idea about this one so I won't go too far into it, but maybe if and when the convention expands Mecha may be introduced as another guild, if we need other guilds. Esper isn't alliterative but the only thing for Mecha I can think of as alliterative might be Systems? As in Computer Systems? But this is a far leap and I think it best to stick with the ones that actually work the best atm. I doubt we'll need more than three for the first couple of years.

I think if you start introducing more than three things would get waay too confusing~ Three is a good number :3

To give an opinion on the Mecha idea (Just to help) Speaking as someone who lives (and cosplay's) mecha and a complete fanatic of mecha one franchise in particular..... Not having a mecha guild is actually fine, its not given great recognition anyway it'd be nice to be kept in mind for the future ill add, but I think most of us mecha-fanatics won't be looking harshly on a lack of a macha guild and I think as a group we all understand the reasoning here. I think everyone can pick one of the three existing guilds comfortably. Personally ill be choosing Sorcerers as a) it sounds cool and b) I imagine those cool hats and capes and as we all know capes are the international symbol for badassery. So really I'd say you made the right decision for the event. Also you could try thinking beyond mecha specifically and into the wider sci-fi element if you wanted some alliterative's for guild names.

Thanks for the input RedFox ^^ As I'm not a huge mecha fan it's nice to have that perspective expressed on here ^^ I'm glad you like our decisions so far ^^.
Also, I like the name Higashi Con too. ^^ Maybe if and when EACON is on it's feet we can create another convention ^^.

Oh dear!!! Okay - mental note: MUST.REMEMBER.WAY.BACK.TO.CON. lol.
And we're going to have to work SUPER hard to get a serious amount of people to attend EACON. We do not want only 60 people to attend or something. That would be dire!!
And the youtube button is no longer there Flawless because of a new rule instated because of the site's new layout. Check here for more details.

Aw thanks you guys.
Honestly, it's kinda rude to hand out leaflets for a convention at someone else's convention but there's no reason we can't advertise the forum.
I'm currently in the process of getting a hold of all the convention runners in the UK and I'm going to send introduction emails to them - as if to say "hi how are you, this is us and this is what we're doing". Hopefully then we'll set up some kind of agreement about advertising. When we have that, I'll post a message saying that we're looking for representatives to hand stuff out or whatever at the events and you guys can shout out nice and loud then okays? ^^ How does that sound?
