Lol I love how my first impressions of movies are so on the money these days! Lol. Me and Faye saw an ad for that I think (at least I think it was with Faye that I saw it) and both of us just went- "oooh" when the asian guy (I'm guessing that Jay Chou) came on but at the end just went "that looks crap" lol.
I also saw the trailer for the King's Speech like back in Nov and was like - "that's gonna be award winning, it looks awesome". And it's now up for 12 Oscars... *blows on knuckles and rubs them on her shoulder* oh yes, I have the film knowledge lol. (jk)
But yeah if you want a good movie - The King's Speech. Don't let the hype put you off. Wonderfully heartwarming, insanely funny, fantastic script, superb acting, everything and anything you could want from a movie. I was crying several times during it, sometimes from sorrow sometimes from laughter. Five star.

Saw the Green Hornet the other day... it's godawul! I could of told you that from the trailer. Seriously though, it really doesn't look that good, and furthermore I don't se why they adapted this, more towards suggesting that Hollywood is out of ideas. So sick of every film being based on a book nowadays. The last good film i've seen that wasn't based on one is Inception. Social Network and Kings Speech I haven't seen yet, doubt i'll be watching The Kings Speech though as it seems like one of those arty movies that the Oscars ceremony bums, I hate films like that, boring. Look at Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, boring boring film, so much fuss made of it. *end mini rant*

I thought you'd already seen Defiance? I thought that was the one in which you did the plane impression in the cinema and upset those old people? (*lmao remembering you telling me that*) I take it that was a different film? Lol no, that was Valkyrie xD There aren't any planes in Defiance. I think I'd notice if I'd already seen it ;-) And Mike, I agree on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - I still haven't managed to watch more than half way without giving up xD I'm sure it's really interesting, and I'd love to finally watch the whole thing, but it does drag out quite a bit

It's Ang Lees perk I think, he makes apparent good films, but they're borefests.

Yeah I totally agree with Crouching Tiger. But I would seriously recommend the King's Speech. It wasn't the arty farty (which I quite like) that I thought it was going to be. It's just worth watching for the single moment when Colin Firth says "tits" HAHAA!!

Okay fair enough ^^ Just thought I'd mention that it wasn't the film festival kinda thing you described ^^ But if it's still not your cup of tea then fair enough ^^.
*tries to think of another film she's seen recently*...
Just finished re-watching Prince of Egypt? Lol. Because I'm cool like that. Love that movie.

I've seen bits of that and all I can think is - male fantasy? lol. I mean it's Uma Thurman in a catsuit chopping everyone into sushi right? That sounds like a generic masculine fantasy to me and, not being male myself, that kinda put me off... :S

Wow I didn't even know that that one was based on a manga... Though I probably should have guessed... It's got seinen written all over it lol.
