Its never credited properly, its only done so in the most stupid of ways you'd already have to know to figure out.
Examples; there's one japanese language track in the kill bill sound track that song is the main theme to the 1973 Japanese live action adaptation of the manga.
And the most obvious (sort of) is in the second movie, they watch (and you can hear the opening to the dub track of ) the shogun assassin, which was a shortened edited version of the 5 lone wolf of and the cub movies into one movie, released for western audiences, the writer of the lone wolf and the cub manga Kazuo Koike also wrote the lady Snow-blood mangs the basis for kill bill.
Anyway in short the manga is so much better, literally there are so many problems in the kill bill version trying to take the story that takes place in something like 1910 and putting it in the modern day, that and taking out the most important and emotional plot point.
There are some large difference's but seeing as most of the important scenes and best action scenes are re-created shot for shot in kill bill, I defy anyone to tell me its not a remake.
Oh and Quinten tarantino announced he had an idea (specifically stating as if it was his) for the ending for the upcoming 3rd and 4th movies, which co-incidentally is the exact ending to the manga..... creative.
Also the new movies will focus on the main characters assassins past ..... like the first 2 volumes of manga and the 1974 live action sequel.
